Recent Projects

Our team have been Mechanical Engineers on several multi-million-dollar aquatic centres. Feedback from industry peers on the systems we have designed include:

Water quality - "this is the best water I have ever swam in"

Air quality - "the building does not have the chlorine smell or humidity you typically experience in a swimming pool"

This new facility opened in 2017 and is designed for family fun and education. The centre includes five new pools including a spa and leisure pool, climbing wall, splash pad, water cannons and gymnasium. Learn to swim and lap swimming pool. Leisure pool includes a slide activity centre. Spa pool includes back and neck massage. Plant room filters, pipework and pumps.

May 2010 to June 2012, Value: $15 million.

This 100 year old heritage- listed building rebuild included the evaluation of existing plant and space planning around a restrictive city site and limited budget. The project includes lap pool, learner pool, spa/steam/sauna and a high specification gym.

 The pool hall ventilation system included heat reclaim and an efficient “displacement” air distribution system with air supplied at low level around the perimeter of the pool halls.

For this project we worked for the mechanical contractor as part of the design and build team.

The insulated pool building was constructed within a large warehouse in only 5 months.

The facility incorporates heat recovery and a cost efficient and remotely controlled building management system for the pool environment.

The SPLASH monitoring pool environment control is both in-house by management and dialled into by maintenance engineers.

Spa pool for up to 20 bathers.

Includes back and shoulder massage jets plus bubblers.

Constructed around an operational facility in 2015.

Pool filters, pipework and pumps.

Aug 07 to Jan 09, Value: $10 million.

This indoor heated pool complex comprised of 25m x 20m lap pool with moveable floor, junior learn to swim pool, gymnasium, training and administration support facilities.

The pool filtration utilised pressure sand filters and solar heated domestic hot water and rainwater harvesting was incorporated.  This project was carried out through an operational school year.

This project consisted of a full aquatic centre with multiple pools, all with geothermal heating. The complex includes a 25m lap pool, learn to swim pool, splash pool, large wave pool, spa, hydro slide, gymnasium, sauna, steam rooms, cafeteria and admin support facilities.

The pool filtration was provided by a combination of vacuum DE filtration for the larger pools and pressure DE filtration for the learners, splash and spa pools.  The pool hall ventilation system included heat reclaim and an efficient “displacement” air distribution system

Sept 03 to Oct 05, Value: $14 million.

This project consisted of a full aquatic centre with multiple pools. The complex includes a 25m lap pool, learn to swim pool, splash pool, spa, gymnasium, sauna, steam rooms, cafe and admin support facilities.

Mar 01 to Dec 03, Value: $8 million.

This project included extension and upgrade to existing facilities including a new 25m lap pool, learn to swim pool, splash pool, spa, café, gymnasium, and associated amenities.

This project involved the upgrade of an existing manual system to automatic dosing and provides PID control for Sodium Hypochlorite disinfection with pulsed pH adjustment by CO2.

On completion the pools have reached a steady state condition of FAC – 3.5 and pH – 7.6, resulting in a 75% reduction in CO2 consumption.

This rehabilitation project included a mechanical ventilation system upgrade carried out around a fully operational facility.

Works included a re-configuration of the existing supply system and upgrade of the extract ducting and grilles.

On completion superior internal conditions has been achieved by a 90% improvement in overall air change rate.

 

There was no gas supply at this rural site and pool air and water heating is supplied by heat pump.

(Life expectancy for a typical heat pump is 15-18years).

Several parts of the existing 1997 system were past end of life and immediate replacement including the flow switch, buffer tank, electric immersion heaters and the open feed water tank.
